     The McDonald's Educates Scholarship program honors outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, exceptional scholastic skills, and volunteerism. The McDonald's Family Restaurants of Greater Washington, D.C., believe it is important to recognize young people who try to make a positive difference in their community, and is proud to honor those students through the annual scholarship program.

 

Eligibility: The scholarship program is open to high school seniors residing within the Greater Washington, D.C., area - including the District of Columbia and portions of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and West Virginia. Please see the scholarship application for further details.

 

History: In the spring of 2011, $94,000 in scholarships were awarded to 53 local students to attend the college or university of their choice. To date, the McDonald√s Family Restaurants of Greater Washington, D.C. have awarded over $600,000 to local students through the annual McDonald√s Educates Scholarship Program.

 

     This year, scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive one scholarship in the amount of $5,000 or $1,500 which will go directly to the college or university the recipient plans to attend. A total of 55 scholarships will be awarded. Winners will be recognized at a reception in the spring of 2012 and will also be featured in a publicity campaign.
